"So what can you do with that thing?"
A passerby noticed the laser engraver sitting in the garage while I was still getting the studio up and running. The space was a mess, but I'd been experimenting with personal projects and shared a few of the things I was working on.
That conversation turned into my very first commissioned piece.
Working from a photograph of their son, we transformed his profile into a timeless silhouette and engraved his name and birthday on the back of the frame. It was a simple idea, but it showed me that meaningful design doesn't always begin with a detailed plan. Sometimes it starts with curiosity.
When they saw the finished piece, they laughed and said,
"That looks just like his little a**!"
I'd call that a successful first project.
